Introduction

The world is filled with fans, groupies and hang arounds that worship at the idol of celebrity without really knowing our idols. We follow their every move, buy their merchandise and join their fan clubs, all the while being held off at arms distance. Why? Because they arent really interested in you. They want your worship, money and focus, they just dont want you. And, if you got to know them too well, you might find out they are not worthy of the acclimation, adulation and applause.
Jesus, on the other hand, is worthy of our affection and worship. He has and continues to heal, redeem and restore. But, unlike your favorite actor or athelete who has a PR firm to handle them, Christ invites you to “come and see”. Christ wants you to know who He is and invites you to do more than join the “fan club”, but to become a disciple.
No form letter with an 8x10 glossy, but a personal invitation
You shall seek me and find me (Jer 29: 13). no ernest seeker is held off, no middle man, no body gaurd stands in the way
Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them (Matt 19: 14)
What do you seek? (vs 38). the million dollar question. What are you seeking by coming to Christ? healing, redemption and restoration? power, prosperity, glitz and glamor?
Not everyone who “found” Christ walked away satisfied. the rich young ruler walked away disappointed (Mark 10: 17-27)
disappointment comes when the question is answered in His truth. In seeking are you ready to become what He is seeking?
come and see (vs 39). No wait and make appt or handling agent. Where they expected delay due to His busyness, their sincere request was answered and satisfied immediatly.
What are you seeking....to become?
the Sunday night question that gets us past Friday. Christ had enough groupies and fans during His earthly ministry and now. Like Herod (Luke 23: 8) and the crowd loooking for signs and wonders (Matt 12: 39), we have those who come to Christ looking a perfomer and dinner act.
Disciple thrive by abiding (vs 39)
